These are facts about the Sienna Poll 2018, including the best, the worst, the categories, and more!
Sienna Poll is when the Sienna College polls experts on stuff. This is the one in 2018 about presidents. First we will learn five of the 20 categories:
Most Intelligent: Thomas Jefferson
Least Intelligent: Donald Trump
Most Luck: George Washington
Least Luck: William Henry Harrison
Most Leadership Ability: George Washington
Least Leadership Ability: James Buchanan
Most Integrity: George Washington
Least Integrity: Donald Trump
Most Overall Ability: Abraham Lincoln
Least Overall Ability: James Buchanan
According to Sienna Poll 2018, these are the 10 BEST PRESIDENTS:
#1 George Washington
He was the first president, and he was also the first person ever to choose to be a president, not a king. He is also my favorite president! In Sienna Poll 2018, he scored #1 in integrity, luck, leadership ability, relationship with Congress, court appointments, handling of the U.S. economy, executive appointments, and avoiding crucial mistakes. He scored high in all the categories. He scored the lowest (#18) in party leadership, probably because there were no parties.
#2 FDR
He was great, smart, intelligent, and loved. Mr. LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG term. He was from NY (that's New York's abbreviation). In Sienna Poll 2018, he scored #1 in party leadership and foreign-policy accomplishments. His lowest score (#16) was in integrity.
#3 Abraham Lincoln
He freed slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation! And he gave probably the most powerful speech! In the poll, he scored #1 in imagination, willingness to take risks, ability to compromise, executive ability, communication ability (speaking/writing), overall ability, domestic accomplishments, and present overall-view. Lincoln's lowest scores were luck (#18) and background (#28).
#4 Teddy Roosevelt
He was an explorer. He scored #2 in luck willingness to take risks.
#5 Thomas Jefferson
He wrote the Declaration of Independence. The most famous thing he did (as our third president) was the Louisiana Purchase, which doubled the size of the country. He scored #1 only in intelligence.
#6 Dwight Eisenhower
He did a lot of good stuff. He helped to build new roads. I don't know much about him. He fought in WWII (and, less famously, WWI). He ranked #3\ in avoiding crucial mistakes.
#7 James Madison
In some Sienna polls, he doesn't rank in the top 10, but in the Sienna Poll 2018 he did. He wrote the Constitution. He was one of our most important presidents. He ranked #3 in intelligence.
#8 James Monroe
He was a founding father. He was also a president during the Era of Good Feelings. It was the year of good feelings because there were no more federalists and the War of 1812 was done. But later in his term some bad stuff happened. One of them was the Panic of 1819. He ranked #6 in luck and avoiding crucial mistakes.
#9 Harry Truman
He was one of the people who made a deal with Germany to not start WW3, WW4, WW5 or more. He ranked #4 in foreign policy accomplishments.
#10 John Kennedy
Even though Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, John F. Kennedy tried to. He ranked #5 in imagination.
According to Sienna Poll 2018, these are the 10 WORST PRESIDENTS:
#44 Andrew Johnson
I like that he tried to do Lincoln's idea of Reconstruction, but that had nothing to do with him being a bad president. He vetoed too many laws about stuff that had to do with slavery. He ranked lowest (#44) in communication ability, party leadership, and relationship with Congress.
#43 James Buchanan
He did nothing when the Civil War was starting. Such a bad president! He scored lowest (#44) in leadership ability, domestic accomplishments, avoiding crucial mistakes, and present overall view.
#42 Donald Trump
He scored lowest (#44) in background, integrity, intelligence, party leadership, and executive appointments.
#41 Warren Gameliel Harding
I don't even think Harding knew about the Teapot Dome Scandal, though he had a lot more scandals. He had to know about some of them, right? He scored next-to-lowest in intelligence (just above Trump).
#40 Franklin Pierce
He did the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which made people in Kansas and Nebraska fight over slavery. He ranked #41 in communication ability, court appointments, and domestic accomplishments.
#39 William Harrison
He served only 32 days in office. Otherwise, in the Sienna Poll he probably would have ranked around the 20th worst. He scored the lowest (#44) in luck and foreign policy accomplishments.
#38 Millard Fillmore
I really wish he hadn't made the 10 worst presidents, because he would have done anything to save our country, according to a song I heard about him. I think I know why he ranked low--probably because of the Slave Act. You can tell it's bad just by the name of it. I don't think he even did the Slave Act. I think his Congress did it. He didn't even serve much in office, only 3 years. Find more about the presidents who served the shortest terms on my blog post about it. He ranked #41 in communication ability.
#37 John Tyler
I wish John Tyler was lower than Millard Fillmore because John Tyler was almost impeached. He was so bad that the windows were broken in the White House, and surprisingly he was calm. Also, here's a little story... One time, he was leading a classroom rebellion against one of his teachers. The teacher got tied up, and John Tyler was kicked out of school. He ranked #41 in party leadership.
#36 Herbert Hoover
Even though John Tyler tied his teacher, Herbert Hoover was still probably a worse president because he did nothing when the recession started and made it The Great Depression. He scored the lowest in handling the U.S. economy and next-to-lowest in luck. He had a few good scores, too: background (#13), intelligence (#13), and integrity (#15).
#35 Benjamin Harrison
Something terrible that happened when he was president was the Panic of 1890. His lowest score was #36 in willingness to take risks.
This is my favorite Sienna poll because it is the most recent! The next one is happening in 2022. I think in that one Trump will rank the lowest because he already ranks low and he did nothing about the coronavirus.
